Swap Meet and Parker
Sunday mornings in Havasu, a parking lot near the London Bridge is taken over for a swap meet. Geoff wanted a day to tidy up the house so the three of us obliged him by heading off to see what we could see. Lots of funky sunglasses and clothing. Spent 20 minutes talking to a couple of folks who were hawking a brand of bracelets that "normalize your body on the molecular level" and eliminate all sorts of aches and pains. Since we all have aches and pains--and we all wear those Ionic rubber bands--we thought it couldn't hurt until we got to the price: $75 each! The best they would do is reduce it by 10%. We walked away without any treasures.
Monday was golf day. About a 40 minute drive from Lake Havesu City lies Parker, claim to fame the Parker Dam and Emerald Canyon golf course. Scott hurt his back (no one else involved this time but maybe he should have bought the bracelet!) so he stayed home while the three of us went. Ria thought she had hit the jackpot when she rented "Merlin" clubs but, alas, they weren't magic. A fun course with several blind shots, lots of elevation changes and terrific cliff shots. Will be fun to play it again, now that we know what happens.
The house had been declared a Vesper-free zone so home to wine and snacks and the sunset, then a wonderful meal of Ahi tuna. Amazingly we've been able to get great seafood in the desert. Who knew? This morning Scott and Ria packed, not anxious to head home to the snow, but they are probably up in the air at this point and Geoff on his way back from Vegas. It was great to see them and we are so glad that they had lots of sun while here. Karen and Mal arrive on Sunday for several days so we have just enough time to rest up and dry out.
Note from Geoff: Re Terry's comment about drying out. Please observe the 9 white wine bottles (Terry and Ria) versus the 5 red wine bottles (Scott and Geoff). The Bombay Gin was a factor in the four days of Vesper Martinis. Also, please note that these are just since Friday evening - last week's went to the recycling Friday morning.
