Two places you never need to go

Geoff and I did a full exploration of Parker today, Arizona and California sides (the border runs down the middle of the Colorado River). Absolutely no reason to go there again, except for the golf course and possibly the Roadrunner Cafe. The Roadrunner would never be licensed in BC, land of regulations. The dock we ate lunch on was too narrow; one could easily fall off, especially if alcohol was involved, and the water looked especially inviting. Crystal clear Colorado River.
We watched the ducks' webbed feet working away below the surface. (Watch carefully!)
These were the highlights. The rest of the place is so bleak and bereft of greenery that we found it mildly depressing. The only place worse on our journey was Quartzite, 50 miles south of Parker. Imagine flat, barren land, rocky, treeless-- plantless, actually--and you have Quartzite. Horrible. But they do have great rock and gem shows once a month, we're told. We saw a half dozen air balloons sailing over the lake tonight just at dusk. Right now we are enjoying the last remains of the most orange, spectacular sunset we've yet seen. Ciao, friends.
